I'm trying to troubleshoot for a friend who recently switched from dialup to DSL.
They have a first-generation iMac G5 running the latest version of Tiger, and the DSL has been working fine. They wanted to set up a wireless network. The Linksys router we got first proved to have Mac "issues," so we replaced it with a Belkin F5D7230-4 Wireless G Router. It seems to be working like a charm, EXCEPT it won't allow AOL to log on through TCP/IP. AOL logs on fine directly through the DSL Modem, but not when the router is in the chain.
Now, I'd just as soon they ditched AOL altogether, as the company's Mac Support is laughable, but the wife's mother lives in the house, and she is an AOL fanatic. So, AOL HAS to stay.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening, and what I may be able to do about it? I'm hardly a Network guy, but I follow directions well.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Warmest,
Bill
