Best way to back up my HD?

Hi

Recently my iBook came down with the viscious Logic Board malunction.
I am going to go get it fixed, but first want to back up all of files, the whole hard drive.

Occasionally I can get the screen to come on, and I'm hoping it'll be long enough to back it up. I've tried a few times and each time there are files that won't copy. Is there an app I can use that will copy my HD to my external HD without missing any files? My external hard drive came with a program named Retrospect Express, however it misses files too.

Any help much appreciated.

Bombichs Carbon Copy Cloner will do the job assuming the Mac will run for long enough. If possible boot from a drive other than the one you are cloning.

SilverKeeper works fine for me. It never missed a file from my home directory.

SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html copied/cloned EVERYTHING from my main disk onto a formatted ipod, i can still boot up into my ipod, which is now running panther, while my main disk is on Tiger. didn't miss a file, and very intuitive to use. also free! perfect
