Big Trouble: Windows 2000 file server & Mac files disappearing

Well i have upgraded from NT4 to Windows 2000 server. We have about 13 macs that connect to this server and when they open files and go to save, the file disappears. The file is really there, but can't be seen by a mac user, only by the server or any other windows machine. Why these files disappear when they are opened up and being saved i have no idea. It doesn't happen all the time, but the majority of the time. Very Annoying and i need help fast. Thanks, Bob.

Also, when i was transferring folders that had a lot of data from the NT4 server to the 2000 server when i was setting this up, the new server would crash, blue screen. So, most of the folders i had to create and then just drag the data and that seemed to work, although it was very time-consuming. I don't know if that would help in this predicament or not, but i thought i would mention it.

It would sound as if the macs are not being able to make .DSstore file on the 2000 server. What need to do is see if A: your mac have the make hinden file part truned on you can see freeware like OnyX or Cocktall to see that setting has some how been truned off. B: See if you or someone other then you that admin that server is delete file that start with a dot what ever ie. ".DSStore"
if so then stop. Those files tell the mac OS what is on that drive.

Yeah i looked on that just now again and earlier and it basically said for NT4 there was hotfix for this, so one would assume this was fixed in windows 2000 but i guess not.

I know for a fact those DStore files are in some of the folders and are not deleted. I don't even think macs can see those files so they aren't being deleted.
