Bizarre left click issue..

All,

I am running Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. All of a sudden the left mouse button on the trackpad will not function. When I attach a USB mouse it does the identical thing. Doesn't sound like a hardware fault to me..

Any ideas on how I can fix it?

What identical thing does it do with a mouse? Do you mean both trackpad and USB mouse respond with a secondary click? In the Mouse pane of System Preferences, is secondary click set for left or right button? Perhaps simply trashing mouse and trackpad preferences would help?
