black outline when items are single clicked on!

Hi,

Am using OSX 10.4.3 on a PowerMac G5 1.8GHz. Suddenly the other day whenever I single click on a folder or a mounted drive it has a black outline around it !
I've been through all the view options etc but can't see how to remove it.

Any ideas anyone ?

Pls see attached file which is a screenshot of the problem. This screen shot shows the problem happening whilst in Classic too. But in happens in both OSX and Classic and in different apps and the Finder too !

Someone suggested to me that it was perhaps a setting gone funny in the Universal Access control panel in System Preferences ??

Have you checked in Universal access? Ive had a look and the only thing i can see is the "show preview rectangle when zoomed out" check box in zoom options but this doesnt seem to effect my machine.

Maybe someone else can shed any further light?
