blu-ray not working with Apple Extreme

I have a Samsung BD-P3600 Blu-Ray with Netflix streaming and Pandora capabilities. I also have a Wii console. They are both set up at my TV (Samsung LED) which is internet ready (I already have cable there). I have an Apple TV at the same location.

At my computer (IMac 20") I have an Apple Extreme for wireless streaming, and use it as my router. I also have a PC linked in to this network. I use a new Airport Express at the stereo, and use it to play ITunes music which I keep stored on a LaCie 2 TB Extreme Disk.

The problem is that the Blu-Ray and the Wii do not talk to the Apple Extreme, which means that we don't have the Netflix and Pandora enabled at the TV. It also means we can't update the Wii or have our Miis parade. A nightmare. I can see other networks in the building when I do a search for connections within the Blu-Ray setup screen, so it doesn't seem to be the Blu-Ray's problem.

The Blu-Ray has the wireless dongle installed. I know it's not an internet problem per se, since we have had no problem getting the Apple TV to work with all its functions including instant streaming of movies and TV shows. I have entered IP addresses, passwords, and every other thing I can think of until I'm Blu-Ray in the face.

I've been on the phone with Apple support seven times, the Samsung Blu-Ray department eight times, Nintendo five times. There is a lot of buck-passing going on.

Can I add a Linksys router or something else to the chain to make the Blu-Ray and Wii work wirelessly? Or can I split the cable at the TV and somehow bring that directly in to the Wii and the Blu-Ray? We tried an Ethernet cable between the Blu-Ray and an Airport Express and that didn't work.

Any suggestions? If I can use another router, where in the chain would it be installed and with what cables and settings on the new router and the Apple Extreme? I'm not really savvy on the lingo, so please try to dumb it down for me. Thanks so much.

Is the SSID on the Extreme being broadcast? If not, then that means your network is invisible (for the most part) -- but you can still join the network if you know the network's name (SSID) and credentials (WEP password, WPA password, etc.). Usually the page that displays the list of available networks also has an "Other network..." or similarly-worded option for manually entering the network name and password.

Also, if you have the Extreme set to be an "n-only" wireless router, then 802.11g devices will not be able to connect, and if your Wii and blu-ray are 802.11g, that may also explain it.

I believe both of these configurations can be found in the AirPort Utility application.

I am having the exact same problem you are having trying to connect my 3600 to my network. I don't have a wii, but I do have Apple tv & Ipod Touch which connect fine.
PLEASE let me know if you find a solution to this problem. I am nearing my wits end....

I too am having this problem. I have tried disabling the security on the Extreme network. No luck. The Samsung BDP 3600 finds the network just fine but after spinning for several minutes, displays an "unable to connect" message. I have a Dell laptop, Apple TV, MacBook, 2 iMacs, a Wii, and a Palm device all having no trouble finding and logging on to the network. I have guests who have no trouble, well most guests anyway - older Windows systems do have trouble with WEP/WPA protocols. I have tried manually entering the Network name into the "Other" field, but the Samsung would not go past the name field into the password field, it just stays there. I'm pretty sure this problem can be placed in Samsung's lap. I will keep trying and will post any solutions here. Or maybe one of you will figure it out and share?

Okay, Your Wii is 802.11g I think. As far as I can tell, the BDP 3600 wants 802.11n only. I'm not positive about this, but my Wii stopped networking when I changed the Airport to 802.11n only. Others are also saying your network name has to be one short word with no spaces. Check out this forum http://forums.cnet.com/ enter "Samsung BDP won't connect to Airport Express" as a search and find a possible solution. It does require disabling some important security stuff. It didn't work for me, but it did work for 2 others.

I have been having the same problem for months myself.
I have 2 samsung blue-ray players and a Wii. I read this thread, and was going through the settings on my AirPort Extreme and noticed that the options for security are "WAP/WAP2 Personal" and I've never even thought of trying to connect on the Wii or the BR Players using WAP2 personal before. I selected those settings on my Samsung and Wii and believe it or not they both connected. I couldn't believe it WORKED! I hope it's that easy for the rest of you. Good luck!
