Blue Screen Of Still Birth

OK folks, my ac won't start and I don't know what to do. Here's the story:
I was playing Warcraft 3 and watched a replay when the phone rang. I put the game on pause and forgot all about it. 20 minutes later the screensaver kicked in and the Mac went into power saving mode after an hour. When I got back the game was running very slowly, but I could still see the replay so I thought I'd bare with it. The problems came when I tried to quit. The screen froze, but I could use the cursor...it just didn't have any effect.
I finally forced a re-boot and the Mac froze after loading the OS. All I get after that is a blue screen and a moving cursor, again with no effect.
I've tried "fsck -y" and zapping the PRAM, but OS X won't get further still.

Do I have to re-install and go through all upgrades and set all preferences again? Or is there another way?

BTW: OS 9 works

Have you tried running Disk Utility?

If not, boot up from your OS X CD and use Disk Utility to check your HD.

Disk Utility said it was all OK...obviously, it's not...I'm gonna try playing with the RAM now, maybe hat's the problem...

Re-installed the system, all prefs saved, but no apps...I've updated iTunes and QuickTime and the system is at 10.1.4 now...I don't get to install 10.1.5 yet, what do i have to get first?

You might need to install a security update first, but I'm not quite sure.

You can always download it directly from Apple's site if it doesn't show up in Software Update.

hi!

i had kinda the same problem.
i played Q3 and the system freezes. i did a reboot and nothing happened - only the cursor and the blue screen.
but i thought that unix might just want to check my hdd´s (like my linux server when he´s rebooted) and it worked...after 10 minutes it just started up!
everythings´s ok....but now it´s too late for you :)

regards,
henning
