Ok here it goes....

1st, Boot up into OS 9.2
2nd, Restart Using Norton CD
3rd, Run Disk Doctor....
many probs found, all fixed
4th, Run Speed Disk
light frag. on all disks, defrag. complete

Ok so far.... Still booted off the Norton CD I go to the Start Up Disk and switch it back to OS X v. 10.1 and restart....

Every thing appears ok except then i notice an 8 MB Partition on my Desktop called "Boot OSX" so i open it and in it there is a Desktop folder and another folder called "External Booter" and within that folder is a file called "BootX"

What the hell happened??

So i try to delete it in OS X...... I can't
Then i eject it........ and it takes w/ it my OS 9 partition, only to return after a restart in OS X
So i try to delete it in OS 9...... I can but i get a message that it will reappear after Restart.....

Not that it's all that big of a problem but why would that happen??? And is there a way to delete it.....

Hope someone has a clue cause i don't!!!

I have followed a similar procedure with no ill effects or strange partitions. What I did differently was to boot up directly from OS X into the Norton Utilities 6 CD (no boot in OS 9), and run Disk Doctor without the file check/repair.

would your explaination or advise differ if the OS X opperating system was installed on a seperate partition than the OS 9 system..... (remember when i ejected the "Boot OSX" partition my OS 9 partition ejected also)

ps thanks!!

ok, check this out....

here is what i think happened, since i never ran Norton on my OS X partition i think all is ok, but when Norton found an error on my OS 9 partition as usual i fixed it.... bad move on my part, the fix erased the "." (period) infront of "Boot OSX" and made it visable... i figured this out after remembering when Norton scaned my other HD the "." (period) error caught my eye and i left it alone and did not fix it.

is this making any sence?????

in OS X i could not add the "." (period), so i Restarted in OS 9 added the "." (period) to the file name, Restarted and it was gone!!!

i think i fixed it but i guess if i see any strange things going on i'm just gonna have to reinstall...

thanks for your help....

and if you have any further comments PLEASE feel free to make them!!!
