Broken Modem Port

I fear that my friends iBook modem port is broken, and I wondered what i should do about it?

It looked like the internet wire was ripped out by force (accidentally I think, dont worry) and now the modem port seems to be broken. Do you know how easy it would to replace one of these? Are they cheap? Could it be fixed as it is??

Any help would be appreciated!!

No good news here. The main logic board probably has to be replaced - not cheap, probably in the neighborhood of 250 quid before you're done.. But you 'might' be able to use one of the USB external modems (check with an Apple retailer for suggestions, or someone may have some experience here) But, that takes away from the portability of the iBook <sighs>
