Since I played around with themes and theme fixers German umlauts are no longer displayed correctly. Even the Installation (actualisation) of 10.2 didnt fix this bug.
here is what happens e.g when naming a folder:
ü
is written like
u¨
The system separates the the special char from the char treating them as individual chars although all country-specific settings in the prefs panel are ok.
Other text applications such as bbedit or text edit, or even system input fields in the pref panel are handling this correctly. Its only the system (Finder) which messes up the umlauts.
I searched every single forum and even Apples developer site. This problem is not known. It may have something to do with the system components responsible for the handling of unicode chars. These components might have been corrupted somehow.
Does anybody has a guess what might cause this strange behaviour?

P.S Im not willing to reinstall Jaguar from the ground up because several critical extensions such as php, xdarwin, xfree86 etc would have to be reinstalled. Probably not. But who can spend his life installing and reinstalling a system...
