Brother HL-1240 shared via. PC

I have a Brother HL-1240 that is physically connected to my Win2k machine and is shared. Panther detects the printer just fine, but when I try to add it in Printer Setup Utility, I cannot find an appropriate driver. I have run the Brother installer, but the HL-1240 still does not show up in the drop-down. I have seen some people suggest other "compatible" models, but everything I try, from Generic on down, just results in some giberish and about 20 blank pages.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like you're getting postscript errors
Download the hl1250 driver for Brother from here (Panther already has ghostscript):

Many OEM drivers don't support all of OS X's print comm methods - I don't have a Brother so don't know for sure if this is your problem.
ON the PC, bring up properties for the printer go to advanced/Print Processor and select RAW - this (I think) will pass incoming data with re-processing it.
