Bundled Hardware Can't Be Loaded on my iBook

I replaced a defunct hard drive on my ibook G4 with a 160GB and now I can't reinstall the copy of OSX that came with the computer. It says the bundled software can't be loaded on my computer- perhaps because it thinks it's not the proper computer because it has a third party hard drive?

I started the ibook as a slave (held down ''t" during startup) and formatted the drive and copied an install cd to it, but still can't get an OS loaded.

Please help!

Do you have a hardware-test CD? Maybe your disk is not properly installed. I heard of some ppl successfully changing the disk in their ibooks.
Apologies for this question: are you holding the "c" key while boot so you can enter the CD installer?
