Whenever I burn CD's or DVD's, It fails about 50% of the time. I get a 0x80020063 error saying that it could not be verified. I've had it sitting in a car seat while burning on a bumpy road and it passed but i could have it sitting on a desk and it would fail. This time I even set it to 4x speed. I thought it was a bad burner but after Apple replaced my defective laptop completly, it's still doing it with my new one. Even with Leopard. Is there a better setting to set it?

I had my burner replaced 2x on my TiPowerBook G4. It still doesn't work right sometimes yes, sometimes no. It is a moddy bastard with no consistency, like a woman. I just wrote it off and bought an external FireWire DVD DL slam bam burn everything and be happy not frustrated unit.

What brand of discs are you using? You can expect less than 50% success rates with bad brands. http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm has a lot of info on good and bad discs. Let me summarize it for you: Buy Verbatim. Apple, Panasonic and Sony are also reliable brands. Just about everything else is hit or miss (at best).

Burning at lower speeds doesn't always improve reliability. It can actually reduce it. You should generally burn at the disc's top rated speed. If you have problems with that, go down one level, but any further is probably a bad idea.
