calibrated color profile resets on reboot?

I've created a calibrated color profile and I love the way my screen looks. But, if I reboot, the colors revert back to the way they looked before I created the profile. Now, if I go and look and see what profile is selected, it's STILL my calibrated one (it's just not actually getting used). So to fix it, I select a different profile then reselect my calibrated one and voila! -- my colors are the way I like them, again.
So, why does OS X keep reverting to another set of colors while it still shows me that my calibrated profile is selected each time I reboot?
