Camera not found

Hi,

I'm trying to use my digital camera Medion MD 6126 with by G3 ibook, running MacOS 10.3, but nothing happens after plugging the USB cable. iPhoto says "No Camera is selected" although it is connected.
On my G5 iMac, also running X 10.3, it works fine without installing any drivers!
What could be the problem?

Thanks for your help,
JP

First things first: is the camera on, and in "computer" or "Gallery" mode? If this is the case, it should work, unless your camera is not supported for some odd reason.

I've just realized that on my ibook I don't have the application DSC Mounter that I find in the iMac.
Could this be the reason of the problem? And where can I download it?

Thank you!

DSC Mounter might be a part of the camera's drivers, if you installed drivers for your camera on your iMac. If you got a CD with the camera, I would try that. I didn't find any drivers for your camera online, the manufaturer's site dosent even have that model number listed. The only information that I found about your camera was on an online retail store in German, and I do not read German. If the DSC mounter thing is an application, I would try launching it to see what it does, and copy it to your iBook. Good luck!

Hi eric, thanks for your help!
Unfortunately I lost the CD that came with the camera... Regarding the application DSC Mounter, I tried to copy it from the imac to the ibook but when I launch it I get an error message. I suppose that it has to be properly installed from a file DSC Mounter.pkg.
I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that the only way is to buy a new CD...

Thanks!
JP

Sorry to hear that, and wow. Thats really bad customer service. They should at least have the camera drivers online, and let you download them for free. If the camera stores it's pictures on a memory card, you might be able to buy a memory card reader and upload the pictures from that..
