The Samsung has a firewire connection and iMovie is expecting input into the iBook firewire port (the one with the Y symbol). You need a connection wire that fits the respective ends. Then the camera needs to be in the VCR (or review mode) and on. Then launch iMovie.
I could not find anywhere that specifically stated that the Samsung worked (or did not work) with iMovie. Apple has a web site of compatible cameras and Samsung is not listed. http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/camcorders.html. This does not mean it won't work, but maybe has not been tested. The Samsung web site is silent on Mac compatibiltiy.
