Can a Power Mac G3 run Mac OS X Server?

I meant, does Power Mac G3 work okay running Mac OS X Server? Or should I get myself a Power Mac G4?

I actually got the gray box version of the OS X Server, similar to the color of the Power Mac G4 prior to the QuickSliver Apple sell now. Does anybody know what version of OS X Server is that? Can I upgrade to the latest version? Is the upgrade free?

Well, if you have it installed on that PMG3 (And, without any knowledge of the specific specs, I would say it probably can run OS X Server) you can just use software update....but It may require the $20 upgrade to 10.1, but I'm not familiar with the "gray box" version.
