I am have some frustrating problems with this new computer..I am trying to exhaust all options before i have to find a place to take it and get charged an arm to sit on a bench for an hour. See my other post titled "New OSXer..."
Any suggestions? PLEASE?

  1. Insert your original Mac OS X 10.2 installer CD, reboot and hold the C key.
  2. Go to one of the menus (I forget which) and select Disk Utility.
  3. Use DU to reformat your drive.
  4. Install a fresh copy of OS X.
  5. Download the Combo Update of 10.2.6.

I've done it a few times, recently about 2 weeks ago. I used Norton t Wipe the volume first, you don't have to, but I wanted to be sure there was no trace. Then i used the Jaguar install CD to format to HFS+, and I agree with Brian.

Well before i did that, i moved all 3rd party Apps to another partition, i decided to keep all my apps off my system partition from here on out. You will need to back up crucial data, can you believe I was so angry that i forgot to backup my user data, no major lose since I did a few days prior, but i did lose a few emails sent and received in Entourage.

After you backup all needed content, formated, it's time to install. I installed, reboot... blah blah the normal routine. Now with software update, a lot will pop up, i installed the 10.2.6 combo first and only, then restarted and installed other items. So far my system is running fine, strangely enough no problems on the alleged buggy 10.2.8.
