Hi, I have an OSX file that's an .img file on my PC that I was getting for a friend. Is there a way for me to burn it so she can use it? If not and I just make a data CD with the .img file on it, what can she do with that file once she gets it on her G4? She doesn't have a burner so can she install the program straight from the image file if she moves it onto her computer?

I only know about PC's so I'm totally Mac clueless... problem is, so is she :D :D :D

Thanks for hearing me out.

Depends on what it is, really. I'd burn a data CD. She can mount the image with Disk Copy or StuffIt by just double clicking the file from the CD.

I bring home files, programs, from work all the time (I can download things much faster). I use the ISO9660 format when I burn the CD, they've always worked for me.

The answer to your last question is yes. Send her the .img and she can double-click it to mount it and use it (see how much easier Macs are than Windows ;-) )

the answer to your first question is no. You can not burn a mac-formated CD on your Windows box. (Actually, you can but not easily/cheaply, and why bother since you don't need to)

Thanks for your replies. Someone brought up the issue that if I downloaded an .img file onto a PC and tried to burn it that I would encounter problems because I wouldn't have the "resource fork" he suggested that the file should have been downloaded as a .sit or .zip or some other format and then expanded/uncompressed on a Mac. Your thoughts?
