Can I Buy Any SATA Drive To Use In A G5 PPC?

It all started at 3......
Hello all,

This will probably sound like a very naive question but here goes:

I have an old G5 PPC 2Ghz DP and I am having some problems with the internal drive. It is only a 160gb drive and I would like to replace it with a bigger and healthier one.

When I purchase the new internal drive for this machine, can I just buy any SATA drive or do I have to buy something specific for the G5 PPC? I am really not sure.

Thank you in advance,

Ian

Just check it out you self. Click on the OSX Apple symbol in the top left of the desktop and select "About this Mac". When the window pops up click on the "more info" button. Then you can what version of hard drive it can use.

Any 3.5" SATA drive will work. You have 2 drive bays in that machine so you can add a new drive in addition to the 160.
