Going back to iMovie 6.0.4 was definitely the right thing to do. Adding Flip4Mac Pro solved all my file importing problems. Now, can I delete 8.0? Or does 6.0 share some files with it and will I have a problem if 8.0 is deleted?

I also have to say that, the more I use my iMac, the better I like it. There are so many standard features in OSX Leopard that I am finding new tricks every day. If I were any happier, my pants would be wet. ;)

If you want to delete iMovie 08 - just trash it and empty the bin. What isn't contained inside iMovie application itself is contained in system and frameworks - those are better left alone as they could seriously compromise your system.
If you'll later decide you'll want or need it, you can get it from the install discs that came with your Mac. :)

Thanks, Giaguara. This is what I suspected, but it is nice to have confirmation. I am pretty stingy about hard drive space and like to delete anything that isn't needed. If nothing else, it makes back-ups faster.

That's a valid reason - if you don't use it it would take space.
You'd probably like software like Delocalizer too so you can remove all the non-needed localizations from your system (English and Brazilian should be enough I guess..) that will save a few GB of valuable disk space in 10.4 or 10.5.
Removing iMovie is definitely safe - I don't have that (or iPhoto, iDVD, or Garageband) on my MacBook Pro either - when the other applications do the job for me (Aperture and FCP), there just didn't seem a good reason to keep those applications.

Good news and bad news. Thanks for the tip as this is something want to do. The bad news is, the software seems to be no longer available. All the links through Google lead back to Bombich software and there is a notice there that it is no longer available.

D'oh.
I'll check thru my hard drives this weekend to see if I have a copy of that software still lying around.

there's a number of other utilities that will easily remove support files for other languages. There's Monolingual, and Youpi Optimizer, and some others. You can do a search at Versiontracker.com for 'remove languages'
You WILL cause yourself some problems by removing the support files from certain software, such as Microsoft Office 2008.
