Can I disable the Powerbook speaker?

Hi Folks,

I just bought the latest 15" Powerbook (1.67GHz). I installed a GPRS PC Card and whenever it's turned on, I get an annoying sound coming through the speakers. I guess its the GSM/GPRS signal.

Is there anyway I can just disable the hardware speaker altogether?

Yes it still happens when I mute the volume. It's electronic interference so I need to disable the speaker hardware.

Ah -- I don't really see any way of doing this short of disassembling the PowerBook and manually disconnecting the wires... although I do not own a PowerBook, so I can't say for sure.

Perhaps someone with a PowerBook knows a way... anyone?
