Can I empty cache folder, and..

Can I empty the /Users/matsaki/Library/Caches as it's 1Gb big now? what is the purpose of this folder?

Also I wonder if there is any god program to track orphaned files such as plist's etc. To make some cleaning? I think my system needs a good cleanup after 3 years.

plist files aren't going to add up to more than a few megabytes, maybe 100MB or so. It's not even worth the time, as that would add up to a savings of 0.1% on your multi-gigabyte-sized hard drive.

Caches that aren't needed are cleared upon restart -- have you tried a simple restart lately?

Things that take up the most room are user-created files: music, movies, pictures, etc. You may want to invest in an external hard drive to move some of this stuff onto.
