can I install the blutooth adapter myself?

I have an iMac G4 (2 years old) and did not get the internal Bluetooth adapter. Can I buy and install it myself or should i just get a simple USB dongle? Will a Dongle work with the OS's bluetooth support or additional software is needed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D
