can I password my mail?

is there a way to password my mail account to keep it away from prying eyes?

I know I can password the computer- but if I just wanted to prevent someone from opening apple Mail... possible?

Don't allow your friends to use your account. Establish a limited permissions guest account on your computer. If a friend wants to use your computer, then allow them to use only the guest account.

Log off your account when not in use, or password protect the screen when not at desk.

Or what about making a disk image file using Disk Utility and make it password protected. Then mount the image as a disk and store your mail there. I know, the problem is that when the disk fills, you have to make bigger and move the mail there.
