can I use a VGA to Mini DVI adapter for a LCD monitor???

Hello!

First off, I love this site. Secondly, I have a macbook 10.6.6 and a LCD moniter with a VGA input. I see on the apple site there is the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" and "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter". both seem compatible but I want to pick the right one. any ideas?

Your computer has either Mini DisplayPort or Mini DVI, but not both. You need the adapter that is compatible with your computer. Since you have not given a hint as to which video port your computer has, you will just have to check your documentation to determine which it is.

I don't have any documentation. Is there another way I can find that out??

You can also tell us which MacBook you have, and we can determine which adapter you would need. You can find out exactly which MacBook you have, by clicking on the Apple menu, then open About this Mac, then click the More Info... button.
That will open your System Profiler, and the entry for Model Identifier will tell us exactly which model MacBook you have....

That's a white, early or late 2008 model, and takes a mini-DVI adapter.
