can not open document

when i click .php file
i get "you have chosen to open whatever.php
which is a nvu document
what should NVU do with this file ?"

I click open with NVU

and then it does the same thing all over again and again .

what is wrong ?
 
What happens if you open NVU and then select File > Open and open the .php file explicitly that way, instead of double-clicking on the .php file?

it does the SAME thing either way...
if I open it using text and copy and paste in the new NVU file then that the only way I can do it..
 
Something doesn't make sense.

When you open NVU, and select "File > Open" and select the php file, you're saying that you receive the message "You have chosen to open whatever.php which is an NVU document. What should NVU do with this document?"

it does not matter how I open it. I always show up like this..
if I click okay it will ask me the same question.

It may help -- or at least a screenshot.

The error message you've transcribed is almost always presented when one double-clicks on a file, not when they try and open a file through the File > Open dialog. That is, unless, NVU is actually the program displaying the error message instead of OS X displaying the error message.

I don't mean to second-guess you, but all the information you've provided (error messages, etc.) don't add up with the procedures I've outlined. If, in fact, you are using the File > Open dialog box to open the file, then the error message you've transcribed is something that I haven't seen before -- and, yes, to be honest, a video of it happening would provide us a great amount of information in helping you troubleshoot the problem. At the very least, a screenshot of NVU as the foremost application and the error message on-screen would get us a tad bit closer to fixing this.

is the computer confused ? is it thinking it is downloading from the net when I open it on my computer ?
