I'm having trouble reformatting a WD 1TB external drive. I'm using Disk Utility, and it gets to the point where it's shrinking the original disk, then just seems to hang for hours. Is there a terminal command, or a utility that I can use to see if anything is actually being done to the disk? (I'm not looking for a ps command, I'm looking for something that will display reads & writes). Thanks.
