Can someone online quickly answer this question for me?

Code: 
defaults write com.apple.terminal TerminalOpaqueness <number>

replacing <number> with 0.0 - 1.0 for the opacity. Then bring up a new Terminal window.
 
Using TinkerTool is a convenient way to adjust the terminal transparency and a bunch of other stuff. Works great BTW, even though it's beta.
