I running OS 10.2.8 on my beige G3 minitower. I also have a separate partition with OS 9.2 on it. I booted over to 9.2 (restarted, not using classic within OSX), did a few things with SoundJam MP (my cleanest way to get sound into the machine since OS X won't recognize my stereo-in ports....) booted back to OS X, and did email, maybe a little calendar updating in Entourage, nothing major. I tried to use the Startup Disk selector in the system preferences, and it froze the system. Well, it either froze, or the spinning beach ball of death went on while it attempted to find volumes to start from. It rebooted in OSX, but still froze from every point on whenever Startup Disk was attempted. One time, for grins, I let it spin for over 5 hours, and it just kept spinning.
So, I started up from DiskWarrior CD. Scanned, "repaired" or "optimized" the disk. I tried to boot up from OSX, and now I can't. I can't even boot up from the OSX install CD.
And, now when I select the Startup Disk in OS9, it freezes OS 9 too.
I don't know if this is related, but I noticed one time that one of my programs that uses ports to access the internet was having trouble finding any connection. I tried iTunes, and have had no trouble with that, however, and using the internet via a browser is also no problem.
thank you very much!
