Can you recover item from empty trash?

I was asked to recover a deleted item from the trash and found out that the person emptied the trash. No backup of course, with photos of a car accident. Is there anyway to get this data back?
 
There MIGHT be.... The more that computer is used, the more likely it is that you will NOT be able to recover it. Do NOT use the computer.

Purchase a utility like Techtool Pro for Mac, boot from the TechTool CD, and use it's recovery mechanism to recover it. Good luck.
 
Yes, you can get it back with a grave digger program that was mentioned above. As long as the person did not use "Secure Empty Trash" you can get your files back. Secure Empty Trash, as it says on the computer, writes over the data with blank data, making impossible to recover.
