Cannot access shared files on server

I have a windows server that I store my files on, and I want my MAC to be able to access these files. It used to have no problem, but then we had to change the name of the shared drive (from "D" to "E"). The drive is there- I can see it in the finder window under the "Shared" column, And I can the folder for the E drive, but when I try to open it, I get the error message "The operation cannot be completed because the original item for E cannot be found"
