Cannot Install Programs on Virtual PC 7

I am trying to help a friend set up her recently acquired Powermac G5 running Mac 10.4.11.
She wants to run two Windows programs - so has installed Virtual PC 7 which appears to be running OK. However when we came to install Corel Paintshop Pro X2 and Roxio Media Creator both programs started their installation OK but they got to about two thirds way through and then froze. We tried a couple of uninstalls and reinstalls without success - no error messages either.
My friend has multiple user licences for both programs - so it is not that they have been used/registered before.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You!
 
I have Virtual PC 7 on my G5. I have never installed Corel Paintshop, but I have installed Corel WordPerfect Office and applied all updates. Except for the fact that it was slow, the process was totally uneventful.
