i have an iBook G4. I loaded Tiger and it booted fine. Then I used Software Updater to download the latest version. It asked for the admin password. Well, I don't have it. It is actually a friend's computer and she could not remember the password even with the hint. So I used the Tiger Install DVD and used it to reset the password and hint. No problem so far. Then I restarted and it asked for both the User and Password. I got the shaky-no thing on all possible entries. So I put the Tiger DVD back in to try to reset the password again. Now, it does not allow me to select an account. It says No Available Users in the pulldown menu for selecting the user.
It seems that the user account is corrupted somehow. There seems to be no way around this password startup screen! Does anybody know of another way to get into the computer? There was only one account setup on it and it seems to be messed up. Help!
