I'm currently running 10.6.1 and trying to double print using my Canon ip3000 printer, but that option is greyed out.

I've never used this function before and really would like to use it.

Your printer can't do double sided printing. When it finishes printing one side, you will have to flip the page around, send back through the printer and then tell it to print page two. This is sometimes not recommended since depending on how much color you have in the item you are printing, it can bleed through if you don't have adequate thickness and high quality paper.

The Canon IP 3000 *can* do double sided printing. I have one :-)

Choose File/Print from the menu

Underneath the page Orientation settings, you will see the name of the program you are currently using. Click the up/down arrow to the right of that name, and a list of other options will drop down.

Choose Duplex Printing & Margin

Click in the box "Automatic Duplex Printing"

Click in the circle "Use normal-size printing"

If all the options you see are grayed out, get the latest drivers from Canon. Mine works just fine.
