Canon IS-12Scanner Cartridge SoftwareOSX

Dear Friends,

I have a BJC-85 Canon printer which has a neat feature whereby a IS-12 scanner cartridge can be substituted for the printer bubble jet turning it into a small lightweight portable scanner!. There is software at Canon for OS9.1 but not for OSX. Is there any simple solution to this? When I try to launch the OS8.1-9.1 software for the IS-12 it says that the classical application is not supported, or something like that.

My friend who turned me from Windows to MAC said there was no simple solution - but you are experts and may have a solution (software that will rewrite the OS9.1 software for OSX? I am not a computer wizard by the way, so please not too technical, thanks.

Hook all the IS-12 mumbo-jumbo bits up first, then launch "Image Capture." See if Image Capture recognizes the printer as a scanner, and, if so, you can use that program to scan.

If it doesn't, you may want to do some research on some software called "VueScan" -- an all-purpose scanning program that is compatible with a wide range of scanners.
