Can't burn CD-R

Hi,

I'm having trouble burning CD's in ITunes and IPhoto.
Each time I try I get a "medium write error". This also happens when I try Roxio Toast 5.2.
I have tried various brands of blank CD but to no avail.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Pete.

p.s. I just noticed this in my system profile;

Media:
Media Type: CD-R
Blank: No
Erasable: No
Overwritable: No
Appendable: Yes

Im only guessing but should the "Blank" part read yes instead of no ?

are you sure you can burn discs with your CD drive. Sounds like yours can only read them, not burn them.

What computer are you using (iMac, iBook, PC, etc), and how long ago did you purchase it?

Hi !
Here's my system profile, I bought it about 6mths ago and haven't burnt a single disc yet ,
cheers Pete

this is a problem i've also had, and also a friend of mine. the once solid itunes burner is now flakey and temperemental.

I had the same problem with my macbook pro and this is what the apple care tech told me to do. It worked for me. Thanks Jason!

1. remove the battery and unplug the machine if it is plugged in

2. with the battery removed, press and hold the power key for 15 seconds. This resets the power settings for the machine. He told me that sometimes the laser may not be getting enough power and this is more often than not the problem.

3. replace the battery, plug the machine in and zap the P-RAM by pressing and holding "option" "command" "P" "R" keys at the same time upon restart. Hold these keys until you hear two chimes.

4. Release these keys and your machine will restart as normal.

5. Now try and burn a CD.

It fixed the problem for me!
