Can't change file names

hi - We have a user who after an hour or so after the computer is on, can no longer change file names. She can select the current file name, then will have a blinking cursor so it looks like she will be able to change the name, but then it acts as if the keyboard isn't working. Once in that text box on the file, you can't move the cursor or erase the current file name. After a restart, it works again, until about 2 3 hours later...it stops. We have reimaged the machine, and 2 days later, the problem is back. Any suggestions?

We are running Tiger OSX 10.4.7 - on a G5 dual - 2 gigs of RAM

At this point I would love to rebuild the desktop..but I can't do that!!

Thanks

Do you have the proper permissions on these files? Can you rename via the "Get Info" window? (File -> Get Info or type "⌘I" )
