I have a Toshiba PDR-M71 digital camera, 3.2 Megapixel, I switched from Pc to Mac a month ago, when plugging the camera to the Pc it was all ok! Now with my new Pb 12 it won't recognize my camera!
The solution would be a card reader, but since I wanna try every possibility before buying one...

I noticed that when I try installing the usb software on mac os x it starts the classic ambient and then nothing...

Anyone ???

Thanks!

According to this website, your camera is supported. But, according to Apple Toshiba is not listed as a supported camera link

Toshiba's web site isn't very helpful and the info they give about Apple does not include your camera model. link

I would contact Toshiba and see if they have any suggestions.

I bought a card reader for my pre-usb camera and I love it, much quicker than plugging in the camera directly. The only drawback is when I forget to take the card out of the reader and put it back in my camera:(

Looks like the toshiba software is an install for OS 9 or older only (back to OS 8.1) There's no mention at all of OS X, which may mean that it's actually supported in some way. Try this, Plug in your camera (nothing else USB should be plugged in for this test) to a USB port (best port is directly into your Powerbook USB port). (make sure your camera is powered up, and it might have to be set for viewing pictures, check your camera manual for help with that.) Now open Apple System Profiler (in your Utilities folder) If you have trouble finding that, quickest is to click on the Apple menu, choose 'About this Mac' and click on 'More Info...' click on the 'devices and volumes' tab, and examine any items on USB information. You should see an item listed with toshiba as the vendor, or the electronics may be built by a different vendor, this may help you determine if it's recognised or not.
Final note: If it's recognised, and you haven't changed other settings; either Image Capture or iPhoto should automatically open! Let us know what you see in the Profiler....
