Can't delete user.

Hey all,

I'm trying to delete a user on my ibook 10.2.8, I go through the process using the Preferences Pane.

The system seems to go through the motions, but when it is completed, the user is still present at login.

Bizarrely, when I check my 'users' folder, the user still exists AND there is a user.dmg file in the 'deleted users' folder.

I'm not at all sure what to do next, so and help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Jon

The user.dmg file is a backup of that user's account. When you delete a user account, the system creates a backup so you don't lose that user's files. However, why it would be showing up in the login screen I don't know.

From Get Info make sure that User's folder is unlocked and its permissions belong to you, not the system so you can actually delete it.

Start up Applications/Utilities/Netinfo Manager. After clicking the lock to allow changes, select users, then the user name you want to delete, then click the delete button up on the toolbar.
