can't eject DVD

I have a G4 Mac-mini with a DVD read only drive.
I inadvertently loaded what I assume to be a blank unformatted DVD into the drive.
Now I can't get it to eject.

I have tried looking at it with Disk Utility, but it doesn't show up.
Tried Toast and Restrospect but they both hang and show up as not responding in force quit, and when I force quit them they don't.

I can't shutdown or restart because of Toast and Restrospect

I'm reluctant to just power down any ideas

Try quiting the apps using the Activity Monitor, then restart, or just power down, powering back up while holding the mouse down.

Navigate to System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras

In the Menu Extras folder, double click the Eject.menu.
This will put an eject icon in your Menu Bar. Try that.
