cant empty trash

hey all...
i have a macbook pro 15" with mac osx 10.5.5
every time i put something on the trash and pressing empty trash i hear the sound of "empty trash" but when i look on the duck the file are still not deleted.
allso fource empty trash didnt work
i tryed to do it several times and with all kinds of files and folders with no success.
pleas help me

certain files sometimes when they r in trash are not trashed.
I'm sure u can cut those files and place it in ur desktop or smoe other folder.
Now, whereever u kee remmeber, now ope the terminal, go to that folder and delete from the terminal using the #rm command
example: if ur file name is abc.doc , then use rm abc.doc
if its a directory, use rm -r abc [if bc is a folder name]

need more help, let me know...once u do this ..rest again it will start working fine
