cant erase a avi movie

Hi guys, i'm new to the MAC scene and I need help to erase a movie file from my desktop.everytime I draggit to the trash bin it says "the operation cannot be completed because the file is locked" By mistake I created a ALIAS of the file. Could that be it? Please help a novice Mac user! :confused:
 
Try this:
Click and the file once, and press Apple-I (get info command - also under edit)

Look for the checkbox labeled "Locked" and uncheck it.
