Can't find my IP

Hey, i've been trying to connect my new macbook to a cable connection. It says that my mac can't find my ip adresse, so i look up for my ip adresse and its 0.0.0.0...is there a way to reset it or to activate it ??
 
Did you try restarting the cable modem?
Is your ethernet TCP/IP set for manual IP (shouldn't be, change to Using DHCP, and click the Apply Now button)
Click the Assist Me... button on the Network pref pane, and follow the screens to try some other possibilities.
