cant find my printer on the windows nextwork

my friend has just got a new imac G5 running OSX 10.4 Tiger and has connected it to on a wireless network to other pc's in the house but he cant get it to connect to his hp psc 2100 printer which is connected to one of the pcs, but all the other pcs can use this printer

The latest drivers are installed and personal file sharing, printer sharing and windows sharing are all ticked in the system preferemces.

When he prints it just chucks out black pages until the job is cancelled.

The PC is running windows xp and the printer is a hp psc 2100 all in one

any advice welcomed.
 
We tried downloading and installing these (gimp print and hpijs) to no success, although the instructions seemed to be for 10.3 not 10.4 so didn't match up completely. We also tried plugging the printer straight into the mac which worked. We tried typing in the IP address of the computer the printer is linked to but still no joy.
