Cant get G4 to find start up disk

In short, My G4 Quicksilver had a power surge and fried my motherboard. I needed to move my hard drives over to a new unit asap. I purchased a new exact model Quicksilver with a new 80 hard drive already installed with OS 10.4.11 on it. It worked perfectly. i then switched all the guts of the old to the new. Now no matter what combination of plugs i try the new computer cannot find the start up disk. I am working with 2 old drives both with 10.4.6 (which is what i really want) and 1 new drive. When i hold down the option key with the old drives together it gives me the flashing folder mac face screen and when i try 1 old and the 1 new it never finds anything. what can i try?

This sounds like incorrectly set jumpers on your hard drives. You need to have one hard drive set for master, and the other hard drive set for slave. They have to be different, and your Mac won't see both hard drives if those jumpers are incorrectly set.

I suggest that you have one hard drive that you know is working - the new one. Leave that one set as a master, then add one of your other hard drives (set as slave), then try running your Disk Utility on that second hard drive. You need to discover if those hard drives are still working - a power surge that blows your logic board, might also cause problems with the hard drives that were attached to that logic board.
