cant get into word

So when I went to click into my word program I got this message

The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "0<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_ColorSync><>"

I went into my Activity monitor and there is no HP processing there is a Microsoft AU Daemon running. should I quit that? I have a powerbook G4 and there are no new software updates for my computer.

What should I do?

Try booting into Safe Mode (hold down Shift when you hear the startup chime after restarting) and then launch Disk Utility. Once Disk Utility is running, select to Repair Permissions on your hard drive. If it repairs anything, run it again until you don't see any more messages of permissions being repaired. Reboot and try and relaunch Word and see if it comes up.
