I have an ibook g4 12 1.06ghz i'm positive the hard drive is ok it was wiped by firewire from another and the drive was reformatted. I have no dvd but have a copy of the retail tiger burned on cd. When i hold the down the c key I only get a white screen and hangs. Do I need to update the firmware maybe ?

The CDs are not .dmg files.
So - you need to find the actual retail set of CDs. Not easy to find.
Or, use Disk Utility to create actual CDs of those .dmg files.
Most folks here will not offer help with burning an OS X bootable disk set from images that you have downloaded from somewhere, but Disk Utility is what you need to use for that.

oh ok well I did burn the four .dmg files in disk utility Its on my desktop too If I click and try to do an install it will ask for password then reboot and still do the same thing I know all the files are there.

Am I correct that you have more than one of those iBook G4s?
Will another iBook boot from disk #1?
Put the CD in the drive, then shut down.
Press and release the power button, while holding the Option button. Does the installer CD show up as an icon on that option-boot screen? If not, then you don't have a bootable CD. If the icon does appear, wait for the cursor to change to an arrow, then click on the installed CD, and press return, or click on the right-facing arrow.
What's the result this time?

Ah I would do just his but my screens are cracked they should be here by tommorow I bet it is in the boot option menu I can't see it though cause the external monitor will only come on when it boots to the os, same for single user mode. Anyway around that?
