Hey, I've got a Macbook Pro on 10.6 and a power mac G4 on 10.4 which i want to screen share. i have done up all the settings on system pref, and i can view my power mac 10.4 screen on my macbook pro 10.6, but not the other way around. the screen share application on my 10.4 can't seem to open, like it bounces on the dock a couple of times, then disappears.

i was wondering if anyone could help me! i'm pretty desperate to get this thing working.

On your 10.6 machine, look at System Preferences / Sharing. Make sure Screen Sharing is checked and that its access rights are what you expect them to be. At some point at or after my switch to SL, the rights were changed to administrator only, effectively crippling screen sharing.

Thanks Whitehill!

but my settings are already there. i've read all the pages on settings, and tried every one of them. but i notice(and suspect) that the problem is that my screen share program on my 10.4 does not work. you know how sometimes you open a program, and it bounces on the dock a few times, and then disappears cause it doesn't fully open? that seems to be happening.

What screen sharing app are you trying to use on the 10.4 Mac? If you want to view, or control the screen of the 10.6 Mac from your 10.4 Mac, you need some third party app to do that, like Chicken of the VNC, or another VNC-type app. You can't control the 10.6 screen from the 10.4 Mac without an extra software install, unless you have Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) installed on the 10.4 Mac (ARD is a purchased app from Apple)
