Can't open .sitx file with Stuffit

I've tried to open a .stix file with Stuffit Expander 10 or 11, not sure, and The Unarchiever. In both cases the program creates a new folder but when I open it there's nothing inside. I've also tried to change the file from .stix to .sti and still no success...
Any ideas?
 
Oh. I corrected the thread title. If the problem really is just in the name, I think StuffIt would still recognise the file-type, no? I thought it doesn't merely go by name...
 
Do you get any error dialog? If you run the Console.app (located in your Utilities folder) and try to expand the .sitx again, do you see any errors in the log?

Where did the file come from? Perhaps it needs a newer version of StuffIt Expander. The latest is StuffIt Expander 2009.
